What is community art sunday?

Community Art Sunday is an invitation for EVERYONE in our community to participate in arts-making with our professional teaching artists at Creative Action.  We invite local leaders, organizations, and artists to join us in actively building community with one another through the arts. Activities include art installations, poetry, sensory activities, digital media, recycled art & more.

Community Art Sunday is a family-friendly event that aims to celebrate the power of art as a catalyst for social change, particularly in the realm of sustainability. Whether you’re an artist, activist, or simply someone who cares about the future of our planet, this event is a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and create.

Join us at Creative Action on April 28th for Community Art Sunday, a vibrant celebration of creativity, community, and sustainability. This intergenerational and interactive event invites people of all ages to explore art making workshops, performances, and interactive art experiences that inspire and educate on the importance of cultivating a sustainable community. There will be a special unveiling of this year’s “Art on the Bus” bus wrap in partnership with CapMetro, PLUS free pizza from East Side Pies, beverages, and more.

Explore CapMetro’s newest electric bus wrap featuring artwork by elementary students.

Eco-Friendly Art Projects

Engage in hands-on art activities utilizing recycled materials and eco-conscious techniques. 

Live Performances

Performances and Art installations by All Rhythms, Mind Body Music Center, Glass Half Full Theatre,  Dr. Aaron Pyle, and more

Civic Engagement

Learn about Austin’s Equity-based Preservation Plan. Give feedback on the plan’s intersection of sustainability, resilience, and preservation.
