TEACHING ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

WE ARE SHINING A LIGHT ON THE ARTISTS WHO BRING OUR MISSION TO LIFE.

Gustavo Bernal (He/Him)

Gustavo Bernal, known as Mr. Gus to his students, is one of Creative Action’s longest tenured film-based teaching artists. He has made significant contributions to film and the community of Becker Elementary.

His journey at Creative Action grew from volunteer to teaching artist due to his passion for film, the arts and education. Gustavo has also been a long time facilitator of media and art making workshops for the community at Creative Action’s Community Art Sunday.

Before coming to Creative Action, Gustavo enjoyed a successful career in film and advertisement. Some of his most notable collaborations include Spike Lee, Quest Love, Thalia, Aurora, Moby, Gorillaz, KT Tunstall, Lilly Allen, Nestor Carbonel, Robin Thicke, Danny Meyers, and Magic Johnson.

Now, living in Austin, he provides video creative services for non-profit organizations and design firms, creating compelling, award winning, content.
