Marcela is the daughter of immigrants—raised by a single mother who spoke limited English and held multiple jobs so her daughter could get a great education. Because of her mother’s determination and investment, Marcela is a graduate of Saint Edward’s University and earned a master’s from the Harvard Graduate School of Education focused on organizational leadership and community advocacy. Over the last 20+ years, Marcela has worked with great organizations like Progressive Insurance, Northwestern, Keller Williams, Raise Your Hand Texas and KIPP Austin in varying roles. Marcela started designEDengagement, PBC, a growing Latina-owned consulting company, in 2019 to honor the efforts of her mother and live her purpose–to work with families and school communities to co-create transformational change to improve outcomes for all students…students and families just like hers.
