Derek Puerta is an 11 year sales veteran who currently works for Arcadia Power as an Account Executive supporting its Urjanet Platform. While selling complex technology solutions is a huge part of his life, his passion lies within the greater community. Prior to entering the private sector as a sales professional, Derek worked in Washington DC in the office of United Sates Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island. Through his work with the senator, he gained a strong passion for social justice and equity & equality issues. He has served on the Central Texas Local Advisory Board of Generation Citizen, a non-profit with a mission of providing action civics education to every middle and high school student across the country. He wishes to continue volunteering with organizations that truly spread equality and compassion for your fellow human. Derek is a native of Rhode Island but been an Austinte for 9 years and lives in East Austin. In his free time he enjoys working out, playing volleyball, and hanging out on the couch with his 4.5 year old American Pitbull Terrier.
