The Heroes / Los Héroes

Grades K-2nd | 15-25 Students  |  5  One-Hour, English-Spanish Bilingual Sessions (Including a Follow-Up)

In this interactive, bilingual performance Teaching Artists use role-play, puppetry, song, movement and games to teach a 4-step conflict resolution process to youth.  Our main character, Sam the Salamander, sets off on a journey from Barton Springs to Costa Rica all the way to Mount Kilimanjaro to discover the “Four Steps to Peace.”  Students are invited to go on the adventure so they can help Sam learn what it really means to be a Hero

Objective

To teach students a four-step conflict resolution process.

After the Heroes program, students will:

  • Clearly understand and demonstrate use of the four-step conflict resolution process
  • Improve their emotional literacy by learning to identify, manage and respond respectfully to their own and others’ emotions
  • Improve their cultural literacy by learning to value the wisdom of diverse people, cultures and traditions
  • Improve their verbal and written literacy by engaging with and being excited about books, writing, reading and other forms of literacy
  • Learn and utilize interactive theatre skills that promote self-esteem and confidence
