Summer Camp Volunteer
Want to help kids learn about how art can change the world? Then spend your summer with Creative Action as a Summer Camp Volunteer!
Creative Action is looking for dedicated, enthusiastic volunteers to help make our summer camps a success. Volunteers help our professional Teaching Artists during creativity classes with games and art projects, help supervise and mentor youth during recess and lunch time, and support our staff and students at final sharings for friends and family at the end of each week! Volunteering at our summer creativity camps is a great way to work with amazing youth and passionate Teaching Artists while inspiring social change through the arts.
We offer summer camps with a variety of creative themes at locations throughout Austin. Learn more about our summer camps here.

Social Creativity is a weekly recreational arts program series for young adults on the autism spectrum. Participants typically eat snacks, play games, and engage in artistic projects, all while working on social skills! Classes are Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Center for Creative Action. For more information, please contact Mitchell Bowman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
After School Volunteer
After School Volunteers gain professional experience working with youth, learn new skills in the arts, and make a positive difference in the lives of young people! Volunteers serve as an extra pair of hands for one of our Teaching Artists at an After School program site one day per week throughout the school year. We have After School classes at 40+ campuses in Austin, Eanes and Del Valle school districts, and each class explores social issues through theatre, art, music, puppets and more. After School Volunteer activities might include prepping art projects, leading games, encouraging and supporting students during class, filming movies, and modeling student behavior. The hours are generally 2:30-5:30pm or 3-6pm weekly. Before volunteering after school, volunteers must pass a criminal background check and attend a volunteer orientation with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Special Event Volunteer
Creative Action holds numerous public events throughout the year to help raise awareness of who we are and what we do, provide fun creative activities for kids and/or raise money to support our programs. These are generally one day events, but some include an orientation or training before the event.
Volunteer Groups are hosted at Creative Action periodically throughout the year for project work-days. Groups help with craft materials and art project prep for our in school programs, building maintenance and beautification, and other creative projects that need extra support. Please email us to find out when we have our next big work day scheduled!
