Year in Review: Elementary After School 2012

It’s been an exciting 2012 for our elementary after school programs, especially since August. Not only have we continued to provide over 50 programs with our 21st Century-funded schools in Austin, Del Valle, Bastrop, Manor and Round Rock and our community partners such as Boys and Girls Club, we also added three brand new programs run entirely by us. Maplewood, Brentwood and Gullett now have extensive after school programming every day of the school year led by our amazing teaching artists. It’s been a highly successful fall for our participating youth, and we are thrilled to soon expand these programs to other campuses.

The second new addition to our programming is New World Kids, a curriculum designed specifically for 4-5 yr olds. In this program, our students practice skills of creative and critical thinking by observing and exploring the world around them through the Sensory Alphabet. Every day they use a variety of arts media and technology to exercise their imaginations and their confidence as they discover their unique creative strengths.

Check out our new website www.creativeaction.org for more information on end-of-year sharings at each of these sites, and stay tuned for more exciting successes in 2013!
