Fun Ways to Celebrate Black History Month in Austin

Black History Month in Austin is a great time to learn and celebrate the joy and legacy of Black leaders and communities in the city. There’s plenty to do at home and around ATX. Check out a few of these fun family-friendly ideas for you and your little ones to observe Black History Month.

The Carver Museum ATX will host their first Solar Saturday to kick off Black History Month. This new community event is free and features interactive activities, food, music, tours, and more. It’s going to be a lot of fun!

H-E-B FREE FIRST SUNDAY 🍿

Visit the Bullock Museum to celebrate Black History Month with storytelling, kid-friendly fun, and more during H-E-B Free First Sundays. Families can enjoy hands-on activations and/or a screening of When I Rise, a documentary about Barbara Smith Conrad, a world renowned Black Opera Singer, and Civil Rights Advocate in Texas. (Please note that you must reserve a free ticket for the screening.)
