Creative Action staff share their favorite ATX Latinx and Hispanic businesses to support beyond Hispanic Heritage Month

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, we asked our staff to name a few of their favorite Latinx and Hispanic businesses that they love to support. Our city is brimming with wonderful makers, movers, and shakers that we can celebrate every month.

Favorite Shops

City Alchemist
Provides locals with supplies and curios for all spiritual paths while offering products focussing on Afro-Latino traditions. They also perform spiritual readings, consultations, and more!

Kaiju Cut & Sew
Custom bags and wares handmade in Austin, TX by maker and artist, Chris Gomez.

Revival Vintage
Curated vintage furniture, decor, and clothing in North Austin.

Vegan Nom
Austin’s original vegan taco truck with hand-crafted tacos, hot sauces, and queso! They also have a great burger truck if that’s what you’re feeling!
Support: Open Tuesday-Sunday in East Austin. Walk-up, pick-up, and delivery options are available.

Buenos Aires Café
Austin-grown Argentine cuisine with an emphasis on responsibly sourced ingredients for their food, wine, and cocktails.
Support: Open Monday-Saturday. They have limited dine-in space in both restaurant locations, and online ordering is available for take-out or delivery.

Mr. Natural
Serving Austin delicious vegetarian homestyle cooked meals for 30+ years, offering vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free goods that everyone can enjoy.

Vaquero Taquero
Taquería serving breakfast and street-style tacos in Austin, Texas!

TacoMex
Home of the perfect taco! A known favorite among Creative Action staff, this small restaurant offers delicious tacos on Manor. Order anything from burritos and chile relleno to menudo, tacos, quesadillas, and beyond.

Con Madre
Two locations featuring delicious food from recipes spanning three generations.
Support: Visit either location 7 days a week (hours vary). Online ordering is available.

Mexic-Arte Museum
This downtown Austin museum is dedicated to enriching visitors of all ages through education and community programs with its collections, and preservation and interpretation of Mexican, Latino, and Latin American art.
Support: Visit 7 days a week (hours vary). Admission ranges from free for members to $7 for adults.

The Cathedral
A beautiful co-working space and art gallery made in collaboration with their sister company, atxGALS, a local female artist collective. The Cathedral opens its doors to the public for Art + Music Nights, workshops, and more.

CVC provides a safe space for women, gender-non-conforming, non-binary, LGBTQ+ and self-identifying people of color to use music and vinyl as a form of resistance against the erasure of culture. They currently have chapters throughout Texas and California.
