Art on the Bus

A partnership between Creative Action and Capital Metro meant to educate young people about smart transit through the power of the arts.

For a second year, Capital Metro partnered with Creative Action to facilitate an art contest with local public elementary schools that included the opportunity to showcase student art CapMetro’s electric buses and the agency’s pickup vehicles.

This project is part of a larger partnership dedicated to educating young people about the environmental benefits of public transportation, specifically zero-emissions buses.

For this year’s contest, several amazing schools applied and the transit agency and nonprofit chose four schools to participate in the partnership:

  • C C Mason Elementary School, Leander ISD
  • Bluebonnet Trail Elementary School, Manor ISD
  • Del Valle Elementary School, Del Valle ISD
  • Norman-Sims Elementary School, Austin ISD
“Del Valle Elementary is excited and grateful for the opportunity to partner with Capital Metro and Creative Action on the Art on the Bus program. This will be a great opportunity for our students to enhance their creative skills, interact with the art world and connect with the community. We can’t wait to see what they create!”
– Del Valle Art Teacher Angela Rodgers
